Varadero Valencia Prestigious refit yard welcomes year of large-scale projects

<div>Varadero Valencia recently completed a season of major refit &amp; repair projects, cementing its position as an industry benchmark, and is now enthusiastically preparing for the new season that&#39;s just around the corner. In the months leading up to summer, the facility was a hotbed of activity, catering to a record number of large yachts.&nbsp;</div><div>&quot;Thanks to our team&#39;s experience and our investment into state-of-the-art technology, we carried out large-scale projects that have exceeded our customers&#39; expectations&quot;, says yard manager Santiago Donat.</div><div><br /></div><div>&quot;One of the season&#39;s most outstanding projects was the full refit of the 33.6-metre S/Y Imagine B. Our team worked tirelessly for six months on the refit, which included unstepping the mast, changing the rigging, and painting the hull and deck. What&#39;s more, the teak deck was overhauled and an innovative International Trillux 33 anti-fouling system was applied to optimise her performance on the water, while Propspeed was applied to the shafts and propellers. Carpentry works, such as enclosing fridges and manufacturing interior panelling parts, helped create an even more stylish and comfortable onboard environment.</div><div>The 28.06-metre S/Y Starfall also underwent a full refit at our yard. Over three months, our team carried out a series of works that included everything from sanding and painting the hull to renovating the interiors, with the help of our colleagues from Monz&oacute; Yacht Painting and The Carpentry. The yacht now looks like new thanks to the replacement of all the mooring lines, the refit of the heads with composite and glassware works, and the manufacture of new custom furniture. What&#39;s more, improvements were made to the lighting and electronics&quot;, Toni Monz&oacute; adds.</div><div>According to her captain Sean Furney, &quot;our SWS 100 headed to Varadero Valencia in January 2024. We were hoisted out and placed on the hardstanding to start an intense remodelling of the interiors. The project consisted mainly of carpentry and soft accessories, while painting, metalwork, mechanical and hydraulic works were also carried out.</div><div>The yard&#39;s facilities were manageable and very practical. There are several really useful chandleries, yacht brokers, and a laundrette, as well as two great sit-down restaurants that serve a lunchtime menu at a very reasonable price.</div><div>Security at the yard is excellent, as you have to go past the security barrier at the marina entrance and then go into the yard itself, which is fenced off and has video surveillance.</div><div><br /></div><div>From day one, the attention given to captains and crews was outstanding, with all the yard workers being particularly helpful and courteous. There was never anything that was too much trouble and the jobs were always performed with a smile, professionalism and expertise.</div><div>I&#39;d like to thank Toni Monzo (PM), Danny (Head of Carpentry) and Jos&eacute; and Vicente (Carpentry) for their exceptional dedication to the project, excellent attention to detail, and unwavering loyalty to the boat. If the opportunity arises, we&#39;ll definitely return to the yard for more services&quot;.</div><div>Meanwhile, M/Y Barbanegra once again chose Varadero Valencia for her annual refit. &quot; For six months, we carried out a complete overhaul of the boat, including mechanical work, carpentry, and painting. We polished the hull and applied a ceramic coating for a polished and long-lasting finish. And to ensure optimal protection underwater, we had two layers of International Micron 350 antifouling applied. Finally, we got the generators and engines checked over to guarantee optimal operation&quot;, explains Donat.</div><div><br /></div><div>M/Y Unica also returned to Varadero Valencia facilities for an annual refit. A whole host of jobs were performed this year, from the repair of cabinets to the manufacture of new bespoke furniture together with The Carpentry. Composite works were also carried out and the swim platform was revamped. What&#39;s more, the hull was sanded down and painted, making the yacht ready to sail throughout the season.</div><div>M/Y Disparate was another yacht that headed to Varadero Valencia for her annual refit, this time for the second year running. &quot; This year, we had the hull sanded down and painted, while the shafts and propellers were coated with Propspeed. We also had some mechanical work done and the top deck vinyl coated, giving the yacht an entirely new look&quot;, says Luis Marzal.</div><div>Meanwhile, the majestic M/Y Diam, with an LOA of 32.68 metres and a beam of 7.11 metres, once again chose Varadero Valencia for her refit. The yard&#39;s specialised team carried out a series of works over two weeks, including the application of a layer of International Micron 350 antifouling with extra waterline coating, as well as the treatment of the shafts and propellers with Propspeed to optimise performance. Mechanical works were also carried out, such as changing the anodes and checking the valves, thereby ensuring the optimal operation of onboard systems.</div><div>Captain Richard Bale, aboard M/Y Diam, shares his experience:</div><div><br /></div><div>&quot;We&#39;ve used Varadero de Valencia for the last three years and we&#39;ve always been very satisfied with the service and the quality of the work. They&#39;re all very helpful and the whole team works really hard to make sure we complete our yard visit on time and within budget. I can wholeheartedly recommend Varadero de Valencia&quot;.&nbsp;</div><div>Last, but not least, Varadero Valencia once again showcased its capacity to take on large-scale projects with the refit of the 52.50-metre S/Y Do&ntilde;a Francisca. &quot; The yard was the scene of a complex operation that included the unstepping and re-stepping of the mast, the sanding of all the underwater body, and the application of multiple layers of anti-fouling. We also had specialised work performed, such as having the propellers sandblasted and parts of the hull repaired. The masts and booms were polished to perfection and the hydraulic and mechanical systems received a thorough overhaul, including the disassembly and service of the bow thrusters&quot;, explains Santiago.</div><div>With a prestigious track record in the yachting industry, Varadero Valencia has become a go-to for owners of luxury yachts. The refit and repair of these superyachts, together with other large-scale projects such as those carried out on Makara, Scorpione of London, Tiziana, Bitolon IV, Stardrifter, Octavian, Eugenia VII, Marlove and Spirit of Family, shows the yard&#39;s capacity to take on any type of challenge and guarantee the satisfaction of its customers.</div><div><br /></div>
